Artist-In-Residence
CAT SIVERTSEN
Artist Cat Sivertsen will be our artist-in-residence for CAD: Pollinators at WALK PG. Cat is a multi-disciplinary artist, a visual storyteller, an arts-based educator and advocate for arts as wellness. Since Cat’s return to Canada in 2006 her work is concentrated in ‘sense of place’. This concept includes notions and realities of aging parents, empty nesting, aging and death – her own as well as the environment’s. Cat’s studio process is grounded in writing and drawing. She is obsessed with eco printing with weeds and rust. Cat engages with this medium through residencies in Northern BC and Alberta. Cat is driven by the alchemic curiosity of materials.
Cat will be creating a collaborative installation using willow and hemp. She will be engaging folks in discussion about sustainability through the arts, focussing on thoughtful material use. Cat’s installation will encourage folks to explore Cottonwood Island Nature Park and emulate the rhythms and shapes they observe in the forest, considering where the willow grows and inviting curiosity and reflection about the park.
Come explore and be part of this free, family-friendly event celebrating adventure, culture, and the beauty of nature. Enjoy a variety of hands-on workshops and activities designed for all ages.
