WAV Volunteer Appreciation

On Friday May 8, 2015, a group of WAV steering committee members, event hosts, and volunteers gathered in Granville Island for some WAV Volunteer Appreciation.

We shared in some yummy foods and stories about our WAV experiences in 2015. Unofficially, the festival  had 50 free events through Vancouver, we had over 2000 participants, and raised enough funds to make the festival financially sustainable. Our full report should be available soon.

Thanks you were made to all of those who helped to make WAV possible in 2015, particularly our first-ever WAV Coordinator, Karly Pinch! All Steering Committee members received a signed and framed copy of the commissioned WAV poem by Vancouver Poet Laureate, Rachel Rose.

WAV uses a very “decentralized” approach for outdoor education festival, whereby everyone who gets involved significantly contributes to their event and the overall festival. Without volunteers, WAV would not be possible. A BIG “thank-you” to everyone who made WAV 2015 such  success! Also, thank you to Terra Breads for contributing food to our event.

WAV is beginning to look towards the 2016 WAV festival.  If you would like to get involved, please email us.
